Motorcycle Repair: 1997 rigid hardtail / 1974 shovel/97 EVO, pulley puller, triple trees

Question
Yes, sir. I am trying to get my triple trees off. I also seem to be having a hard time finding where the screws or bolts are that loosen the tension on my belt so i can remove my primary. Or do i need to take my primary off, to get the motor serviced while my frame is in paint? Your answers and assistance is so greatly appreciated. Mark

-----Question-----
I am tearing my bike down for the first time to get it painted. I have gotten over 100 pics of the process, and have been taking notes. I Have the whole front end besides, the triple trees. I am unsure if you have to have a special extractor tool( like a pulley puller?) My father who was supposed to join this project with me has passed away, so i am doing it all by heart. It ia a 97' rigid hardtail (borget frame) it a 1974 shovelhead bottom end and a 97 EVO top end, 4 speed kickstart, with a open primary. I hope that helps you help me a little better? Thhank you very much Mike, Sincerely..... Mark Moore

Is your question how to take the triple trees off?
Mike

Answer
To get the triple trees off, remove the top nut and the shaft will slide out of the neck of the frame.
On the belt, if youa re talking abouot the belt in the inner primary you have to remove the motor sprocket nut and the clutch hub nut and slide both off at the same time with the belt.
If you are planning on rebuilding the motor now is the time to do it while the frame is being painted
Merry Christmas
