Motorcycle Repair: 1983 YZ250 Engine, yamaha dealership, yamaha factory

I have an 83 YZ250 with engine problems.  My question is will the 85 YZ250 engine interchange with my 83?  Specifically the bottom end.  I know that pistons gaskets and other aftermarket parts are 83-85.

Hi Russ.

 That is a question best left for a Yamaha factory tech to answer for you.  Go to a Yamaha dealership and talk to the parts guys and service people.  They should be able to answer that better than I could.

I do know this; not every part from a bike will match the same model over a series of years.  Just because some of the parts do, it does not mean that all of them will.
