Motorcycle Repair: 03 zx6r keeps dying, ninja zx6r, zx6r 636


Question
I have a 2003 Ninja zx6r 636. If the bike sits for about 2 hours the battery will die. The other night I rode the bike after charging the battery and it started fine and I let in warm for about 10 minutes with no problems. I got about a Block down the road and when i switched gears the bike stalled and died. went to restart the bike but just got a clicking sound like the battery was dead. What could be the problem with the Bike?

Hi Will,

I suspect the charging system is not working properly. A component in the system is likely defective.

Test alternator output voltage at the battery with a multimeter (VOM). Isolate and test charging system components separately.

Get a copy of the repair manual and learn about troubleshooting and testing procedures.
