Motorcycle Repair: 2006 Honda CR125 stalled and wont start again, dirt bike, proper position

Question
I just bought my son a 2006 Honda CR125 2-stroke dirt bike.  Brand new.   This is the first day he was testing it out.  Read the Owners manual.  The shop tightened everything down and topped off all the fluids, gave it a test run before we brought it home.   Today he went through the Cold start procedure- the bike started fine, closed down the choke.  He let it sit and warm up for a few minutes.  He left for the field and returned pushing the bike.  The bike stalled on him and would not start back up.  I had him take it through the flooding procedure to make sure it hadn't flooded out, and then let it sit for an hour.  The bike still will not start up.

My son said that the bike stalled while he was moving, just quit.  It's his birthday of course, the worse day possible for this to happen!  Any tips?

Answer
Hi Gina,

Sorry to hear about the problems your son experienced on his birthday of all days.

Check the fuel tank petcock position. Check that the valve is in the proper position for fuel to flow. It happens.

It's possible that the spark plug is fouled. Remove the plug and inspect for evidence of fouling. Clean and replace and then try starting the engine.
