IS IT POSSIBLE TO PUT A YAMAHA YZ 490 DIRTBIKE MOTOR ON A YAMAHA BLASTER 4 WHEELER? THEY BOTH ARE AIR-COOLED. WILL IT BE EASY? WILL I HAVE TO MAKE CUSTOM MOTOTR MOUNTS? (WILL IT BEAT RAPTORS,BANSHEE'S,DS 650'S,QUADZILLA'S,250R'S,450R'S,450F'S,400EX'S,LTZ450'S,ETC)?

Answer
Hi Justin.
Almost any engine can be put into any frame.  Jet dragsters are proof of that.  It will likely require a change in the motor mounts as well as other modifications to the drivetrain and engine.

As far as outperforming the other quads that you mentioned, that is an issue that has so many variables as to make it insanely long to go into, but here's the Reader's Digest version; The factors that affect performance of any machine are 1) engine power, 2) vehicle weight, 3) Driver weight, 4) Final drive and gearing, 5) Tires and last, but not least, Driver skill.

If you have something that is geared for hillclimbing, for example, it will outrun all of those rides going up an incline, but will get stomped on in level racing.  You need to make sure that it is geared for the type of riding that you want to do with it and that includes the final drive sprockets as well.

For this project, if you decide to continue foreward with it, I suggest that you go to a good bookstore and get everything that you can on engine performance upgrades on 2-strokes so that you have a ready reference as well as a library from which to learn about maintainence and operation of machines.  Also, if you do not have it, get the repair manual for the bike who's engine you are using as well as the repair manual for the quad who's frame you will be modifying to receive the engine.

Good luck and ride safe.
