Motorcycle Repair: KTM, ktm 300 exc, spark plug wire

Question
Now I am getting intermitten spark. All the connections are good I checked to see if I was getting fire at the coil where the spark plug lead attaches and that was hitting hard so I cleaned the spark plug wire and was getting good spark put it togeather and got it to fire off it ran for probably five seconds then died, now I am getting no fire what's so ever not a the plug or at the spark plug side of the coil. Could this be a problem with the coil, that would cause it to work only sometimes? I would really like to get this pinned down becaus I am running out of money to throw at it. Thanks again

I ordered a puller and while I was waiting for it I shot some PB Blaster behind the flywheel and let it sit, a little later when I kicked it I had a real weak spark. this to me confirmed that it needed to be cleaned. when i pulled the flywheel and cleaned everything now I have no spark what's so ever. where did I go wrong? where should I go now? thanks for all the help.

Thank you for the response. Now my problem is how to remove the flywheel. I figure that i need to buy a puller. but I don't know the female thread on the flywheel to order a puller, and my local ktm dealer says they don't have books going back as far as 1994. So can you tell me what the thread is and mabey where to buy one?

I have a 94 KTM 300 exc that i purchased as a project bike. I have it all put back togeather however I am not getting fire. I have checked all the wiring and cleaned the ground. I am suspecting the stator, because it is behind the flywheel and i don't have a puller i haven't looked at it yet. The man i pruchased it from stoped riding it when he tore up the top end, thats all fixed. could the stator be rusty or something form sitting. the best i can tell it probably sat for a couple of years.

yep take off the stator lighly sand it and the armature you will be fine ok.

Answer
what i would do is try a new plug wire, they can fire sometimes then burn out somewhere inside the line .also coils are known to be tedious they can fire sometime and then other times they dont.p.s also chk the ground that goes to yur coil, could be bad corrode etc.but it realy sounds to me like a bad coil .if you need more help let me know ok bud
