Motorcycle Repair: kawasaki bayou 220 (98 model), kawasaki bayou 220, booster cables

Question
Mitch - My bayou would not crank. The battery was dead (original to the machine).  I bought a new battery.  Still no crank.  I bought a new solenoid.  The solenoid clicks loudly, but the starter does not engage. Where do I look now?  Also - there appears to be a relay mounted beside the solenoid.  How can i check the old solenoid, and how can I check the relay and starter?  The solenoid was $92 and the battery was $45.  I still can't ride.  PLease help. This model has a hand pull cord.  The machine will not try to start using it.  Thanks - Sam

Answer
go to the starter with the key on hook up some booster cables  on an auto, on yur end take the hot go directly to the starter wire on the starter then take the ground on yur end and ground it to the bike where you  get a good ground if the bike starts then you have a bad starter relay ok.
