Motorcycle Repair: 99 virago250 runs rough at lower speeds, xv250, viragotech

Question
I have a 99 xv250 that sat up before I bought it.  When I start it cold on full choke it kind of revs and I have to use the throttle to keep it running.  When riding around 45 mph or less it has a surge/bump to it.  I ran some sea foam through it and noticed that, when I went to cover it there was some gass dripping out of the carb area.  Viragotech recomended sealing any crack in the black rubber Y shaped manifole under the carb.  I did that and now it takes longer to start when cold.  I am thinking jets and float.

Answer
Hi Rocky,

Fuel left n the carburetors and fuel system will need to be inspected for evidence of varnishing and other contamination.

I suspect the carbs will need thoroughly cleaned and synchronized.

Inspect the fuel tanks for rust. If rust is present, the tanks will need to be sealed or replaced.

I can email you several tech information files that may help you. I'll need your email address as requested and explained in my instructions.
