Motorcycle Repair: Tryign to start a 2004 gs500f, 2004 suzuki gs500f, trickle charger

Question
Should I try to jump the battery or would it be better to take it out and charge it?
And if I do jump the battery, is it the same process when you jump start a car?

Hi, my brother bought a 2004 suzuki gs500f in august.

It's been almost 2 weeks since I started the bike, and I tried to start it this morning with no luck.

To me it sounds like the battery is very weak although my dad claims its not, but he deosnt know much about bikes.

So I tried starting it going down my driveway but the lights dimmed and it clicked the 1st 2 times i tried starting it, but on the 3rd and 4th try no sound, just slight dimming of the headlights.

I had the choke on all the way and tried it in neutral and 1st gear.  I'm not sure what to do now.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a dead battery

Answer
Never jump a battery with a car battery. To many amps and you are taking a chance of blowing up the bike battery.
Remove it and put it on a trickle charger. The charger should be 2 amps. Check the water in it to make sure its full. After you have it charged it would be a good idea to have it tested to make sure its good.
Good luck and happy riding
