Motorcycle Repair: re:sporstster cylinder foul, fire ignition, valve guides

Question
mike thx for answering. i can check the coil and plug wires myself. i'll start with new plug wires. i didn't know that you could use either hole in the coil to either cylinder. can you? meaning i can use either hole in the coil to either cylinder? the part you didn't answer in my question or i didn't ask was, how come after r&r'ing the pistons did it take about 350 miles for the problem to come back. i'll tell you the heads were not checked and valve guides were assumed not an area of concern.

Answer
Yes you can use either hole in the coil, since you have a duel fire ignition. Meaning both cylinders fire at the same time.
As to why you started smoking at 350 miles. Coould be the rings didnt seat properly, the cylinders were not bored properly or they were bored to big. Anytime I remove the heads to redue pistons I check the valve guides, replace the valve guide seals and lap the valves
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
