04 heritage,could you please tell me how to install a new chrome shift lever,i have a manual but it does not tell how to remove or install or adjust.it was given to me as a gift ,no instructions were with it .it is from harley

Are you talking about the lever for your foot or the shift lever on the trans?

There should be a bolt attaching it to the shift lever on the trans with a locknut as well as one on the foot lever. Start by installing it loosly on the trans lever and then to the shift lever. See where the foot lever ligns up. You should be able to adjust the length of the rod by either screwing it inward or outward. Once you have it adjusted to where you want it then tighten it up as well as the locknuts.
