Motorcycle Repair: Clutch problem, hex bolt, clutch basket

2001 Indian Scout with an S&S power train. Recently I had to adjust the clutch. I just went to the lock nut and hex bolt at the transmission case to adjust. Works fine for a couple miles then all of a sudden the clucth acts as though there is nothing left to the adjustment. The lock nut is tight when I double check, and leaving the cover off in case I had to do it again while getting the bike home, it makes some strange noises. The bike only has about 3,700 miles on it. Is it time to replace some parts?

Sounds like u r gonna have to adjust your clutch basket.  What cover r u leaving off?  R u adjusting this at the primary?  If so, please tell me you are not leaving the service access 2 the primary off while riding!  If so there's a reason for your noise.
