Motorcycle Repair: 1994 yamaha xj600, yamaha xj600, yamaha atv

I purchased a wrecked 600xj,the engine still runs good.I want to put this engine on a 400 Yamaha atv,the problem is the carburetors are mounted vertically and wont fit in the frame is there another year 600xj that the manifolds and carbs are mounted horizontal?Will my existing cars work mounted horizontal.

Hi Tim,

The 1990 XJ600 carbs are mounted parallel with the ground.

Visit "www.yamaha-motor.com" and/or "www.bikebandit.com" and view their parts microfiche. You can compare various carburetors at these sites.

You wont be able to use the downdraft carbs mounted horizontally.
