Motorcycle Repair: FLSTF throttle cable, backyard mechanic, throttle cable

Question
I'm assuming the throttle cable broke on my 99 Fat Boy today, as I have no response in twisting the throttle. I am a novice backyard mechanic, but would like to replace the cable myself. Should I replace both throttle and idle cables? Is it a difficult job and are there any adjustments to be aware of?

Answer
Since you are having to replace one I would do both so you donthave the problem later with the idle cable.
It not a hard job, the cables covers are pressed into the housing and they will have to be pryed out. Once you have then installed you just adjust them to take the slack out of them.
Good luck and happy riding
