Motorcycle Repair: motorcycle repair, right cylinder, street bikes

Question
I have a 01 GXSR 600 and the far right cylinder is dead.  The header is not getting hot.  I am trying to check the plugs but have never pulled the coil aout of cylinder.  How do I get it out without damaging the part?  Is ther common problems with this?

Answer
Sorry Bill, as indicated I specialize only in off-road, as I don't consider myself a big help for street bikes.

All I can tell you is that cyclinder is either not getting spark or is not getting fuel - start by checking both. I'm not sure what coil you mean, my '05 R1 didn't have anything in the way of getting to the plugs - just pull the cap off and remove the plug.

Good Luck
