Motorcycle Repair: honda cb750 fron sprocket removal, honda cb750, chain oiler

Question
1974 cb 750
This bike has been refurbed by a bike mechanic who put a
overdriven setup 19t primary and 45t secondary I have to be falling
off a cliff to get into 5th gear
Now? the primary gear is held in place with a 2 bolt plate and a
nut with a set screw center with locking tabs. I opened the tabs and
released pressure on set screw and nut feels really tight?
I don't dare put too much pressure on it? Do these threads go ccw
or cw to loosen?

Answer
Tom, I think they came with a 18t front sprocket stock and 48t rear. I thought they had done away with the chain oiler by 1974, but it sounds like that is what you have in the middle of the shaft assy.  Should be normal r/h (ccw to loosen) threads. Lock the trans in 1st gear and push on the rear brake pedal at the same time as you are removing the large nut.
