Towing Issues: FL commercial vehicle/semi towing fees, accepting credit cards, tow company

Question
Hello, where can I find information regarding what towing companies are allowed to charge for towing a semi off a lot, and if they can refuse to accept credit cards of a particular group of people.

Answer
Well Florida has tried to regulate the towing rates for Non Consent towing a few times but the laws do not pass.  But there are several Cities which have regulations on towing issues and fees charges (mainly oriented to cars and pickups though)... Gainesville comes to mind right off the top of my head.

Now as to accepting Credit Cards, well that is pretty much an industry standard practice to not accept them on vehicles which were towed by police orders or from private property.  Reason being is simple, you are currently trying to find out how to get out of paying for the tow which you did not order and feel is wrong, and as such checks, credit and debit cards all can be canceled, stop payment issued, or disputed. But cash can not be canceled  so it is the payment of choice..
Also nothing says that a tow company or any business for that matter is required to accept credit cards at all, and if they do accept cards, did you know that the business is charged a percentage of the fee collected for the right to accept your card?

Only way to win on paying cash is to take the tow company to court over the tow and see if the judge agrees that, you were not trespassing on the private property, you had legal rights to be there, you were overcharged, the tow company violated the law, or any of a few dozen other issues which could cause you to win the court case.

But as to a specific answer to your questions, I have no idea where to find specific rates for non-consent towing from private property in Florida.
