Motorcycle Repair: Modifying Baffles, drag pipes, harley sound

Question
I have a 2005 Softail Standard with Screaming Eagle 2 exhausts. I would like to know if I can remove the baffles and make the holes a fraction bigger, how will this affect the performance of the bike and will it do any damage to the engine.
I am after a small amount of that great Harley sound gain.

Cheers

Sharpy

Answer
What you are doing is making the bike run leaner when doing this. You are creating more flow in the exhaust and will probably be getting towards drag pipes. Drag pipes work great at high RPMs, but hurt performance at midrange, where most people ride.
If you are looking for a better sound go with a different exhaust system
Good luck and happy riding
