Motorcycle Repair: Dead KLR 650, kevin littlejohn, vacuum hoses

Hi, Mark

I have a 2006 KLR 650 with 5700 miles, I went for a short trail ride and on the way home it was running fine on the way home the engine stalled and wont start. I am getting fuel and spark. All lights and electrical are fine I also bypassed the kickstand safty switch. I have also replaced the balancer chain adjuster with a aftermarket unit. any help you can give I will be very grateful.

Hi Kevin,

I need to inspect the KLR and perform a few tests to accurately diagnose the problem.

Check cylinder compression and valve clearances. Adjust or repair accordingly.

Check fuel, vent, and vacuum hoses for evidence of pinching or collapsing.

Check fuel for contamination.
