Motorcycle Repair: Vt 500 c Shadow, vt 500 c, starter solinoid

On my sons 86 500 shadow the starter went bad replaced it now hit the start button starter solinoid just clicks checked all fuses and connections all clean and tight, fuses are good, even tried to jump off another bike any ideas? Starter worked when checked off bike all suggestions appreciated. Thanks   Joe

U cannot jump bike to bike.  It won't work cause bikes r a generated, as opposed to a car that is actually charged.  Try jumping from a car, or a battery booster/charger.  Check your battery at the posts, it should read over 12 volts, but under 14.  The closer 2 14 the better.  If all is good there, then u have another bad starter.  Good luck!  Have a good day.
