Motorcycle Repair: Handlebar switch problems, master cylinder, compresses

Question
2005 Shortster XLC. Put new grips on and put switch housing back together I thought correctly. Drove down the steet and all lights were out. 15amp fuse blown. Opened switches again and found wires pinched on left side (clutch). Wrapped wires independantly and then in union, new fuse. Tried lights, all lights on,  but brake lights on continuously, no lever or foot pedal depression does anything? Any thoughts?

Answer
When you are looking at the right side of the handlebar controls you will see its two piece. One part has the buttons the other has the master cylinder. They have to be slide tight together. Doing that compresses the button in there
Good luck and happy riding
