Motorcycle Repair: Vacuum levels, free email servers, yamaha fj1100

Question
I have a 1985 Yamaha FJ1100(not California). The bike came to me with the carburetors munged up from sitting for 12 years. I took apart, cleaned and reassembled(this endeavor is probably most of my problem) the 4 carburetors. Spark plugs are all right. Timing with timing light is right on. When you crack open the throttle, the engine may die, or, cough a bit then speed up to where it's running pretty good. Put a vacuum gauge on carb 1 and and another gauge on carb 2. At 1000 rpm, vacuum fluxuates rapidly between 0 and 5 on both. Put same gauges on carbs 3 and 4 and get a steady reading of about 22-23 on both. In addition, the O-rings on the pilot screws for carbs 2 and 3 are gone. Lost em with the air gun during rebuild. Could not find local replacements. Measured and set the float bowls per manual. What could be affecting carbs 1 and 2 this way? Thanks for any help you can give.

Jourdy,

I return tech files by email. There was no email address with your question as requested and explained in my instructions.

Reply with your email address if you want the tech files. It shouyld be known that free email servers such as Hotmail and Yahoo usually do not accept these large file sizes.
