Motorcycle Repair: motorcycle prob, shively, prob

i have a  1998 ninja 500 11,000 miles on my way
home 2 miles into it the bike started to bog down when i gave it the gas i droped to first gear and still the same i made it home wondering what causes this and how i could fix it?i got off the bike and it never stalled out. its my first bike and ive only been riding for 3 days.
