Motorcycle Repair: 1980 Yamaha 650 Fuel, poor mechanical condition, reserve tank

I am only able to get 140km out of a full tank of fuel and am not sure why.  Is there something that I can be checking or is there a problem with the fuel system with the reserve tank?

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure how many kilometers your motorcycle should get per tank. I do know that there are many variables that affects overall KPL.

Worn needle jets causes excessive fuel consumption. So does engine in poor mechanical condition or not tuned. Other variables includes higher speeds, weather, altitude/elevation, tire pressures, etc...
