Motorcycle Repair: clutch cable, stainless steel cable, clutch cable

Question
I have a 75 super glide, the clutch cable broke last night and I am having problems locating a stainless steel cable locally, everybody says it will take 3-5 days and I need one sooner than that, any suggestions? Also how hard is it to change out? And is there any way to get the bike into first gear so I can at least get it home.

Answer
Since you cant find one you are going to have to wait. most shops dont carry that old a part and in stainless.
You will have to remove the exhaust and the oil out of the trans. remove the cover and you will see how its attached. If you have a kick starter then you hve to reset the kicker as you install the cover.
Your not going to be able to put it in gear without the clutch
Good luck and happy riding
