Motorcycle Repair: Exhaust, yahamaha, wont matter

Question
Hi there

I have a 1991 Yahamaha SRX 400. I am trying to make the bike a little unique, I have shortened the length of the exhaust so that the after market can now sits under the engine / chasis of the bike. Basically about 50cm of exhaust has been removed and I have since been warned this could stuff my engine. Is it too dodgy removing that much exhaust? Buell's have their's ending under the engine and I've seen photos of street fighters like that too? Cheers.

Answer
Isaac, as long as you keep the muffler on it wont matter how long the exhaust is. it is when you remove the muffler or can that you can change the jetting required and could possibly hurt an engine. But what you are wanting to do is ok. cheers
