Motorcycle Repair: cbr600 cuts out, eric hope, petcock

Hi Eric.

Hope you can help i have recently bought a cbr 600 1994 and it just started to cut out when i touch the accelerator basically the bike will start first time  i ride it 500meters then i start to lose power touch the accelerator and shes gone then whe i try to restart nothing it sounds like shes trying to turn over but cant however if i put the choke on she starts and sits a 3000 revs idle touch the accelerator and she cuts out ? plese help?

I suspect its not getting fuel. check that the tank is venting thru the the fuel cap. next check the petcock for correct operation, there is also a filter on the inside of the tank on the petcock. look inside the tank, is it rusty inside ?
