Motorcycle Repair: 1988 fxstc, starter solenoid, squeals

Good afternoon,

In response to rour reply, no the starter does not engage at first. It's a series of squeals then the starter will engage but not for a long time(almost draining the battery)

You needSounds like either the starter solenoid is bad or the starter is draging. First, replace the main breaker. It might be weak. If that doesnt help, then run a wire from the battery to the starter. Touch it with the wire. If the starter spins freely then you problem is probably the solenoid
