Motorcycle Repair: throttle adjustment, pivit point, throttle cables

Question
i was wondering how to adjust the throttle cables i top out at 70 mph and cant get any more pull out of the bike its a 2005 sportster with duel cables

Answer
There is no adjustment to make the throttle cable pull farther. All you can do is take the slack out of the cable. If there is to much slack then you can adjust it. Look on the cable and you will see the adjuster. You might be opening the carb all the way already. You can check it at the carb. Look at where the throttle cable is attached. Open the throttle all the way. Then see if you can turn the pivit point farther on the carb. You should be able to go faster than 70. I would see if you are hitting the rev limiter at 70.
Good luck and happy riding
