Motorcycle Repair: 1980 Honda CB750K, honda cb750k, fuel guage

Question
Falcon,
I have a couple questions for you. First, I had my bike painted about 6 months ago, and at the time the tank was nice and shiny inside. Now, even riding usually about 4 times per week, it's starting to look a little rusty. How can I fix/prevent this? Second, a great deal of my riding is done at night due to my work schedule, but my bike has no fuel guage, so my only way to judge it is with the trip meter. However, it is not illuminated, which makes it tricky to see in the dark. Any thoughts on if or how I could light the odometer? Thanks, Stu

Answer
Hi Stu.

I have a couple of answers for you.

For the fuel tank, all you need do is to reseal the tank.  It is a kit that you should be able to get at any decent bike shop.

For the light on the instruments, there is supposed to be a bulb in each of the instruments.  It is most likely that the bulb has burned out.  You should be able to order that from the same shop that you get the reseal kit from.  And if they  can't order it, then you should be able to order it from a local Honda dealership.

Good luck and ride safe.
