Motorcycle Repair: Honda CB750f2n Drive Sprocket Thread, chain and sprockets, lefthand side

Question
I am changing the chain and sprockets on my CB750f2n.

However, it is not possible to obtain a Haynes or similar manual for this model and I have a small problem.

The bolt that retains the final chain drive sprocket (engine sprocket) is very tight and I do not know if the thread is clockwise or anticlockwise to tighten.  The chain is on the lefthand side as sitting on the bike so the sprocket turns anticlockwise when running.

Do you have any experience with this or other models that might help me to decide which way to turn :-)

Many thanks.

Answer
Hi Paul.

The bolts should be standard direction thread, but there should also be metal lock tabs that must first be bent back to allow you to remove the bolts, then bent back in place after reinstallation.

As far as the repair manual, have you tried www.repairmanuals.com to get one?  That site should have it.

Good luck and ride safe.
