Motorcycle Repair: Goldwing wont maintain higher speed, honda gl, fuel tank cap

Question
I have a honda Gl 1100 runs great through every rpm range and gear. My problem is after 15 miles it losesd power, if I pull over by the time I stop its running good for another mile. If I lower speed to 55 it runs great. It has never done this at 55 and under. Only when I try to maintain HWY speed.

Answer
Hi Don,

From the information provided, I suspect a lack of fuel delivery problem may be the cause. Measure fuel pump output according to service manual procedures. If not within service limits, replace it.

A fuel related ventilation problem may cause similar results. Fuel tanks, fuel tank cap, or carburetor atmospheric vents can become obstructed or pinched.
