Motorcycle Repair: 1980 xt500 g yamaha main ignition switch, drag specialities, factory manuals

I am trying to wire a drag specialities 3 position switch to replace my original 4 wire ( br, red, bl,& bl/wh)on/off switch. I have the red going to B terminal and br to L terminal on the switch, Where do I connect my bl & bl/wh wire? IG terminal on the switch? Can't get my headlight to work. Don't know if my Clymer schematic is right. Already replaced the cdi box with a after market one.

Without a schematic of your bike and the schematic of the switch I cannot tellyou which wires will go where.  I do not keep schematics for everything out there.

However, I can tell you this; the schematics in the Clymers are as good as the factory manuals.  The colors may be off, sometimes, but then that is easy enough to find out by tracing each circuit that you are working on and correcting it in your manual.

Go with the schematic in the manual.  Even if the colors are not 100% right, the schematic itself is right.
