Motorcycle Repair: 1989 Honda CBR 600, honda cbr 600, secondary fuel

Question
my 1989 cbr 600 would start and idle good but it seemed realy dogy when you gave it gas for a few minuts then it got better but never came completely out of it going down the road after it warmed up it acted like it ran out of gas and died but the tank was full after about 5 minuts it started back up and ran for about 5 minuts and died again and wont start again ive checked it out but cant seem to see any thing wrong any ideas

Answer
Hi Scott.

There are a couple of possibilities.

1) There could be particulate matter in the fuel line that is blocking the line.  When you turn the bike off or it dies, the particulate matter drops out of the way and the carbs refill for a time.

2) If you are running a secondary fuel filter, then it could be clogged.

3) Other fuel system related issues.

Let me know what you find.
Good luck and ride safe.
