Motorcycle Repair: carb, air fuel mixture, ruber

Question
i have a 1982 yamaha 920 vaigo 2 cylinder it will start as long as the choke is on but will not idle i have to keep it reved up to about 2000 rpm to keep it running when i let the throtel go it will die and the carb on the throtel side is leaking gas out between the carb and the intake  where the ruber holdes it  do you have any ideas on what could be wrong

Answer
I usually only answer questions on Harleys, but I might be able to help. Since your bike will not idle, but run at higher RPMs, then your air/fuel mixture jet is plugged. Since it leaks you need to remove the carb, soaki it in carb cleaner and rebuild it with new gaskets.
Good luck and happy riding
