Motorcycle Repair: Spark Plug stripping, yahmaha, ttr125

Hello Chris

My son has a 2005 Yahmaha TTR125 that a friend of his rode into a creek. They tried to fix it and have now stripped out the spark plug. I got a new plug and after some effort, got it to go in but it will not tighten down now. Any suggestions?

Hi Mike.

There are only 3 options here;

1) Rethread the plug hole with helicoil. (not really recommended for this particular application)

2) Retap the hole with a tap and die set and get different plugs that will fit the re-tapped hole, if available.

3) Replace the head with a new or good used one.
