Motorcycle Repair: electrical, honda silverwing, starter switch

Hi I have a 83 Honda silverwing 650 GL. Just put the battery in it. Now it wont start. Checked battery its ok. Positve wire goes to I beleave the starter switch with fuseable link? Tested here and I have juice but when I turn the key I lose all juice even at the battery. Checked all conecters around the battery. So in short Im lost at this point, It baffles me that I have power when the key is off but not when I turn the key on.

Hi Bret.

Have you tried replacing the switch?
 Clearly, if you get power when the switch is off and no power when it is on, then this is clearly a switch problem.  as old as the bike is, you can't expect parts to last forever, and switches often tend to start failing first.

Replace the switch and see what happens.
