Motorcycle Repair: electrical issues on yamaha v-star motorcycle, semi conductor, motorcycle usa

Question
I recently installed a couple of led (40 lamp) lights for stop, tail and turn application. I installed the matching module that came with the led lights. However when I start the bike after about 6 seconds the lights while in tail function have a minor "flicker" and then when you activate the turn signal the flash sequence is not consistant. This only happens when the bike is running? The voltage for the led to light is only 5.42 volts for the run/taillight. Could the bike generator making a voltage increase sensitve to an led but not noticable with a incandesent bulb?  Please let me know what your thoughts are? Could a resister in the tail light circuit be the answer?
Thank-you Terry

Answer
Hi Terry,

I'm not familar with the accessorie lighting products installed. I would need to review product intel to know about the product's operation and specifications.

System voltage/current should not be a concern with the new lighting accessorie. The module should regulate voltage to lights.

However, it's possible to receive a defective product. Also, improper installation techniques can damage circuitry, especially if system is hot when conneting conductors, respectfully.

Try contacting the product manufacturer for tech support.

Try returning the product for replacement or refund.

Visit www.motorcycle-usa.com's message boards and inquire with other cyclists about their experiences with the product.

Installing a resistor or any other semi-conductor may void any warranty, and may harm electrical components.
