Motorcycle Repair: honda 305 gas tank, crossover tubes, pet cock

Question
I have a 65 Honda Dream 305 The pet cock is bad (stopped up) So the pervious owner just ran new lines and by pasted the petcock. So I am going to clean the tank, line it with Kreem fuel tank liner and rebuild the petcock, and carb.
My question is how do I run the fuel lines?

Their is a nipple on the left side of the tank, and their is a nipple on the right side on the tank right beside the petcock, and then one on the petcock
The petcock has  Run then slide the knob to reserve

Answer
John, I am not sure what you meant by bypassing the petcock.

There are crossover tubes under the fuel tank that balance the fuel load and I suppose you could tap into that line for a fuel line to the carb, if that is what was done before.

The original configuration is that the crossover lines attach both sides of the tank and the single fuel line from the petcock runs to the carburetor.

The petcock has RUN, RESERVE and OFF positions. Be careful of the three screws that hold the petcock to the tank. They can rust on the ends, then break off inside the tank.

I have restoration guides available for Dreams. Contact me through the website.  RETROBIKES has petcock repair kits.
