Motorcycle Repair: ecceleration, terminater, factory settings

Chris,im not sure if i,ve spoke to you about this problem,sorry if i already have.i know you guys are trying to help.My 150 terminater trys stalling on exceleration,also fouling plug.Spark seems to be good! Battery is at 12 volts,so im at a loss. if you could give me some things to check it would be appreciated. mike!

Hi Mike.

I don't recall, right off hand, helping you before, but let's see what we can do to help now.

The fact that the plug is fouling indicates that there is too much fuel getting into the cylinder.

This occurs when one of the following happens;

1)  The mixture is changed from factory settings.  If this has been done, then you need to lean it out til the bike runs properly.  It is very time-consuming and hard on the bike.

2)  The air filter is badly clogged.

3)  There is a leak in the manifold or the manifold connection to either the head, the carb or both.

4)  The spark is not so good as it appears.  Look for shorts and check the ignition coil against the specs in the repair manual.

5)  You have insufficient combustion, often caused by compression loss.

Start with all of that and see what you find.
