Motorcycle Repair: Battery instalation, honda goldwing, using a multimeter

Question
I have a 1995 Honda Goldwing SE
I just charged my battery and and i tried to hook it back in the bike I connect the positive and when i connect the negative it blow the
main fuse  (B). I tried the negative first with the same result.  Any idea why the fuse keeps blowing?
Thanks
Ed

Answer
Hi Ed.

Fuses normally blow due to grounded shorts or sometimes reversed currents in one-way current systems.  If it is the main fuse blowing, then the most likely issue is a short in the main wiring harness after the fuse.

You need to check the wiring harness for shorts (using a multimeter and the wiring diagram from the repair manual).

Start there and let me know what you find.

Good luck and ride safe.
