Motorcycle Repair: Exhaust mods, kawasaki mean streak, worst case scenario

I own a 2002 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 fuel injected bike and was wondering what else must I do after I change out the factory exhaust system for a new Vance and Hines exhaust system.  Are any other modifications necessary?

Hi Bill.

Changing exhausts used to always require retuning of the engine, but nowadays, with the advent of aftermarket factory spec exhausts, it is almost always unnecessary.  As long as the new exhaust was made to go on your bike, then everything should be fine.  Worst case scenario, you will need to have the engine retuned, in which case I suggest that you let a shop do that work.
