Motorcycle Repair: 920 virago 1982, yamaha virago 920, clutch

have a 83 Yamaha Virago 920. The starter has been skipping and grinding for some time.
I was told that the flywheel clutch assymbly had to be repalced?
what do you think

I'd have to inspect the parts to determine the amout of wear.
