Harley Davidson 1984 Evolution TC
My problem started with the gears being hard to shift. I added Dot-5 brake fluid to the tank and it seems, when running it shifts good upshifting and a little hard down shifting. Also it doesn't totally disengage now. I can feel it pulling me when I am stopped at a light.

You have me a little confused. Where did you add the Dot-5? Dot5 is only for brakes. If you added it to the trans or primary you will have to drain it. the trans takes trans fluid for harleys and the primary takes primary fluid for harleys.
Thanks for the answer it was very helpful. However, to clear yours and my confusion about the dot-5. The clutch cable runs down to an arm on top of a small tank with a filler nut on top. I was told that it was clutch fluid and I should use the recommended dot type ie;3,4,5, for the bike. So I purchased dot 5 poured it in and it seemed to work better but still had the above mentioned problem. So, if I understand you, that is the trans box and I should have used trans oil. Any type or specific to Harley's.
I real appreciate your comments and help, thanks for offering this service to us new comers to the world of Harley's.

The problem you are having is the clutch is out of adjustment. If its pulling you it is adjusted to tight.
First, located the adjuster on the cable. You will see a locknut. Lossen it and turn the cable so it becomes shorter. Now, with the bike sitting upright, remove the big cover on the primary. Under it you will see the clutch adjuster in the center of the clutch. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjuster outward. Now turn it inward slowly, just until it touches or bottoms out. Now turn it back out around 1/8 of a turn. Tighten the locknut, making sure the adjuster doesnt turn. Put the cover back on. Now adjust he cable outward until you have roughly 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever and then tighten the locknut.
You should be set to go.

Answer
Where you clutch cable is going is in the trans. So what you need to be using is trans fluid for a harley in it.  I would go ahead and drain the trans and refill. You can go with a synthetic oil, made for harleys, which will give you smoother shifts in the long run.
