Motorcycle Repair: rpms getting stuck while riding, mile intervals, throttle grip

Question
can you tell me why, when iam riding my 04,ultra classic electra glide it engine's rpm's won't go down when i release the throttle. the throttle grip isn't getting stuck. the cruise control isn't on,but when i down shift the rpm's keep staying at around 3000 rpm. i take my bike in for regular maintenance,at 5000 mile intervals. shifting into 3,4,5 gear, the same thing happens.i recently used my cruise control on my trip from sacramento back to los angeles. thank you. al martinez.

Answer
Check the cables at the throttle body and see if they are sticking or not moving the throttle plate. If that is not the problem then you need to go to a dealer and have them do a dianostic to see which senser is having a problem.
Good luck and happy riding
