Motorcycle Repair: Engine Missing, intake leak, fire ignition

Question
I have a 1995 Road Kind with a 100 cu inch Rev-Teck engine and a Rev-Teck 6 speed transmission. It has a HSR42 Mikuni Carb, custom chrome ignition (part #658 180, model 1005-0E), a Fireball single fire ignition coil and a Hooker Tuneable exhaust. It has a bad miss between 2800 and 3000 RPM. It's only noticeable when putting the engine under load at that RPM and holding it there. At full throttle, there is no problem. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this problem?

Answer
First I would check for a intake leak. You can do this by start the bike and spraying a little carb cleaner around the intake. If the RPMs go up then you have a leak.
Anothe problem might be either your ignition or coils are breaking down.
Last, you might have a loose wire connection that is vibrating at that RPM and shorting out the ignition.
Good luck and happy riding
