Motorcycle Repair: no spark, kawasaki bayou 300, regulator rectifier

Question
Mark I have a 1991 Kawasaki Bayou 300 2X4. I bought this ATV non running (no spark) about 1 month ago and am no expert myself. Upon inspecting the bike I saw that the regulator rectifier was burned up badly and found what I believed caused the problem, bare wire touching the frame. I then bought a new rectifier from Kawasaki and repaired the wire. I also put in a new battery, spark plug and spark plug wire. Still no spark so next I replaced the CDI box, figured it may have been damaged when the rectifier burned up, still no spark. This weekend I replaced the coil and still nothing, I did hook up a voltmeter to the blue/black wire coming out of the pulsar and got a 0 reading. I am thinking the pulsar and strater are the only 2 things left to replace, should I try one before the other or is there a way to test them? I am starting to become very frustrated. I will greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have to offer.
Thank You

Answer
Hi Paul,

Are you following the service/repair manual's testing procedures? If so, which brand manual?

If not, get a copy the manual and we can go from there.

I return test and repair information files by email. There was no email address with your question as requested.
