Motorcycle Repair: exhuast backpressure, drag type, backpressure

Question
I have a 1999 883 that I would like to install a
set of WCC Hellbent Pipes, these pipes have no baffles. I have been told that short pipes with no baffles (like these) will greatly reduce the horsepower of my bike. Just wanted your opinon on this. If you know of some other pipes like these that would work better, let me know.

Thanks, Zach

Answer
Your right, installing drag type pipes will reduce horsepower as well as torque unless you are always running at high RPMs. You can install a baffle in the pipes you want or get a set of baffled pipes. I dont of any pipes like the ones you want that are baffled.
Good luck and happy riding
