Motorcycle Repair: K&N filter, air fuel mixture, airbox

Question
I just replaced my airbox on my 4 stroke 150cc ATV with a new K&N filter. Now I have a dead spot when I throttle up. High rpms are OK. The mikkuni carb has an auto choke. Idle is OK though. If you rev it up the low end dead spot will go away momentarily but returns in a few seconds.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Steve,

Changing the air intake, carburetion air-fuel mixture (jets), or exhaust requires tuning the air-fuel mixture.

To correct the flat-spot, either replace the air filter with OEM parts or tune the carb.

Simply adjusting the air-fuel screw may correct the performance problem.
