Motorcycle Repair: Primary Gasket, pat jahn, clutch assembly

Question

Mike,

First of all thanks for the help.  I am replacing the primary gasket on my 96 XLH.  And was wandering how big of a job it is?  I got all the bolts off of the casing and the case is somewhat loose but not sure about the clutch assembly and what else I need to take off to get that primary cover off to replace the gasket.

Thanks again,

Pat Jahn

Answer
Its not a touogh job. under the small cover which the clutch is located, remove it. Under it you will see the adjuster for the clutch. remove it. under the primary cover you will see the primary chain adjuster. Loosen it, or turn it all the way down and now the cover will slide off.
Good luck and happy riding
